Nigeria’s U-17 Conquers the World
Heroic
performance by Nigeria’s 17-year old Oladele
Ajiboye, who saved 2 shots in a penalty shoot-out
against their Spanish challengers to clinch a 3-0
victory at this year’s Under-17 Cadet Championship
in Seoul, South Korea on September 9, 2007, has won
for the Golden Eaglets and Nigeria, the U-17 global
trophy for the third time. By this conquest, Nigeria
has registered its name on the global soccer map as
the first African country to achieve this feat. Also
by winning the first edition of the FIFA U-17 World
Tournament in China and another one in Japan and now
its third victory in Seoul, the Golden Eaglets have
now equaled Brazil’s record of three wins in
the competition.

FOOTBALL – SPORTS COOPERATION
The
Brazilian Ministry of External Relations is about
to elaborate a sporst cooperation program with African
countries. The purpose of the project is to send physical
education graduates, whose remuneration would be in
form of a Brazilian government scholarship, to work
as football coaches in the continent. It is worthy
of note that the 2010 World Cup will hold in South
Africa and Nigeria is a major football potential in
the African continent.

BOXER SAMUEL PETER BECOMES NEW WBC CHAMPION
A
Nigerian heavyweight boxer, Samuel Peter, defeated
a Russian boxer, Oleg Moskaev and became a World Boxing
Council (WBC) champion.
He won by Technical Knock-Out
(TKO) in the 6th round of the match held in Cancun,
Mexico on 8th March, 2008
