PUBLIC NOTICE
The Embassy of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria hereby informs the general public that the Nigeria
Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) is organizing a Business Investment
Forum at FIESP headquarters in Sao Paulo on Thursday, 28th August 2008
at 10.00am. The Nigeria-Brazil Business Council will also be inaugurated
during this occasion.
Also, the Nigeria’s
Honourable Minister of Culture Prince Adetokunbo Kayode will on Friday,
29th August 2008 at 2.00p.m formally open the Nigeria Cultural House in
Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The Cultural House is located at Nº 26 Alfredo
Brito Street, Pelourinho, Salvador, Bahia. The National Troupe of Nigeria
(NTN) will stage cultural shows in Salvador on 28th August at Arena Sesc
Pelourinho and on 29th August 2008 at Teatro Miguel Santana, Pelourinho.
The Embassy of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria would appreciate the attendance of interested stakeholders,
individuals and organizations to these functions.

NOTICE ON SUBMISSION
OF APPLICATIONS AND COLLECTION OF DOCUMENTS FROM THE CONSULAR SECTION
This is to inform the general
public that effecttive 15th may, 2008:
I. All applications will
be accepted from 10:00 - 12:00 hours on working days only;
II. Collection of visa and other documents will be from 14.30-15.45
hours on working days only;
III. Please note that all applications submitted will be considered
within two (2) working days after submission; and
IV. New passports will continue to be issued on tuesday and thursady
every week.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
TO NIGERIANS IN BRAZIL
This is to advise all bonafide
nigerians resident in Brazil, Bolivia or Paraguay to kindly complete the
attached bio-data form and return to the embassy of Nigeria in Brasilia
- Brazil.
I should also emphasize that all nigerians applying for one document or
another should attach the completed form to their applications for processing.
AMNESTY 2009
Interested Nigerians are
advised to note the content of the amnesty law/decree and guidelines on
how to apply as provided by the national secretariat of justice, below
(English translation by the embassy).

The embassy has sought
for special authorization to enable it issue passports to Nigerians who
are not qualified to be issued passports under the existing regulations
by the federal government. Those in this category should exercise patience
and await further directives or notification by the embassy.

AMNESTY
In order to find solution
to the migratory situation of several foreign nationals who are presently
illegal in Brazil, the Federal Government has regulated through Decree
nº 6.893, Law 11.961 both dated 2nd July 2009, known as “Amnesty”.
The measure has as its major objective to benefit those persons that left
their countries of origin and traditions in search of a better life and
who, on many occasion, end up become victims of false promises and exploration.
The new law guarantees all foreign beneficiaries of amnesty all rights
except those that are exclusive to Brazilians.
The process of regularizing is easy: It consists of the concession, by
the Federal Police, of a temporary residency of two years. Ninety days
before the end of this period, a foreigner could ask for the transformation
of temporary residency into permanent residency.
WHO CAN APPLY FOR
AMNESTY?
All foreigners who came into Brazilian territory on or before 1st February
2009 and remain illegally in Brazil.
He who has application under review can benefit in the same from the amnesty,
as long as, he or she has along with his application, formally requested,
at the Department of Foreigners in the Office of the Secretary for National
Justice (SNJ), for withdrawal of his previous application.
WHERE CAN YOU APPLY
Go to a Federal Police Unit close to you on or before 30th December, 2009.
WHAR ARE THE DOCUMENTS YOU NEED FOR 2 YEARS TEMPORARY RESIDENCY
• Application
for registration, available at the following website: www.dpf.gov.br
or www.mj.gov.br/estrangeiros.
• Original receipt of payment of fees for the issuance of Foreigner
Identity Card – CIE, at the cost of R$31.05 (thirty-one reais
five centavos), to be paid with a bank teller called GRU – Payment
Teller for the Union, code 140619.
• Original receipt of payment of registration fee, at the cost
of R$64.58 (sixty four reais and fifty eight centavos) to be paid with
a bank teller GRU, code 140082.
• Declaration, under oath, that he/she is not being charge in
any criminal court or has not been condemned for criminal offenses,
In Brazil and abroad.
• Proof of entry into Brazil or any other valid document to attest
entry into Brazil on or before 1st February 2009.
• Authenticated copy of passport or equivalent travelling document;
or certificate issued in Brazil by the diplomatic or consular representation
of his/her country of origin, attesting to his identification or nationality;
or any other valid document of identification, which enables the Administration
to identify and check his identification data.
ATTENTION
Don’t be deceived: in order for you to benefit from the amnesty,
you don’t need to pay any other fees or amount besides those stipulated
by law and no third party mediation in necessary.
In line with Administrative Directive nº 2231 of 3rd July, 2009,
released by the Minister of Justice, all applications for temporary residency
and their transformation into permanent residency will be decided by the
Department of Federal Police and all omitted or special cases will be
resolved by the Office of the Secretary for National Justice.

DEALS WITH THE TEMPORARY RESIDENCE FOR FOREIGNERS IN IRREGULAR SITUATION
IN THE COUNTRY AND PROVIDES OTHER MEASURES.
THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC
UPDATE ON AMNESTY AND FACILITATING PARTICIPATION BY NIGERIANS
Further to the earlier notice
on the ongoing Amnesty for illegal aliens in Brazil, the Embassy wishes
to inform the Nigerian Community as follows:
I– The Special Authorization
requested from the Federal Government to enable the Embassy issue passports
to hitherto ineligible Nigerians, to facilitate their participation
in the ongoing Amnesty exercise, has been granted;
II– However, to benefit from this generous gesture by the Federal
Government, Nigerians in this category must be currently free from criminal
charges, arrest/custody; imprisonment, expulsion order or being wanted
for any alleged or confirmed criminal conduct or act;
III – Consequently, interested Nigerians in this category are
to complete the attached personal data/enquiry form and return same
to the Embassy by Fax or E-mail;
IV– Received completed forms will be subjected to screening in
order to arrive at a crime-free list of potential applicants who will
be invited to the Embassy for brief interview/issuance of Nigerian Standard
Passports on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6th October, 2009; and
V – Applicants are advised to send their completed Personal Information
Data/Enquiry Form directly to the Embassy through Fax No: (61) 3226-5192

(completed form should be marked at top left corner: “Attn: Consular
Officer” before faxing).
2. Please do not come to
the Embassy without being invited or you would be requested to fulfill
the existing requirements as a regular applicant. Maximum cooperation
is required to enable us continue to serve you well.
3. Every applicant must obtain and send to the Embassy, together with
the completed personal data/enquiry form, a police report (antecedentes
criminais), stating that he/she does no have any criminal record in Brazil.
