PUBLIC GENERAL NOTICE TO ALL NIGERIANS
EXTENTION OF THE VALIDITY OF THE MACHINE READABLE PASSPORTS (MRP) UNTIL
FURTHER NOTICE.
Leaders and members of the Nigerian Community
and all Nigerians in Brazil, Bolivia & Paraguay are hereby informed
that the Federal Government of Nigeria has extended the validity of the
existing Nigerian Machine Readable Passports (MRP) from the earlier announced
date of 30th April, 2011 until further notice.
Please disseminate this information to
all Nigerians you know in Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay.

ATTENTION: LEADERS/MEMBERS OF NIGERIAN
COMMUNITY IN BRAZIL/BOLIVIA &
PARAGUAY
COMMENCEMENT OF THE SECOND ROUND OF E-PASSPORT CAPTURING EXERCISE
IN BRAZIL
Please be informed that the Nigerian Government
E-Passport Intervention Exercise, by the Nigeria Immigration Service would
be re-visiting Brazil from 10th – 24th January, 2011.
2. The exercise is meant to afford Nigerians
in Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay, who were not able to complete/partake
during the first phase of the exercise in May 2010, an opportunity to
obtain the new electronic-passport (E-Passport). The E-Passport is expected
to replace the Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) widely used by Nigerians
abroad by 31st April 2011.
3. All interested Nigerians in the afore-mentioned
Countries are expected to assemble for the exercise in São Paulo
at AV SÃO PAULO (SP), Time: 9:00hrs of Monday, 10th January,
2011.
4. All Nigerians who had completed the
payment process during the first phase in May, 2010 but were not captured
are to come with their proof to the venue.
5. The exercise involves taking passport-size
pictures of Nigerians and collecting their bio-data information individually,
for the purpose of issuing them with the new E-Passports. The pictures/data
will be taken to Nigeria for processing and issuance of the new E-Passports,
which will be sent back to the Embassy in Brasilia for onward distribution
to the beneficiaries.
6. Completion of form/payment for E-Passport
is strictly on-line with the use of credit card, by accessing the Nigeria
Immigration Service (NIS) website: www.immigration.gov.ng. Applicants
are guided electronically to the last stage, which is payment with credit
card, after which a confirmed payment form is printed out, with which
the applicant can proceed for capturing. The fee still remains US$65.00
(Sixty-five United States Dollars only).
7. This exercise is opened to all Nigerians
who can prove their Nigerian nationality. Please note that Consular
Officers/Staff of the Embassy will be at the venue to detect any untoward
development and report impostors to local security authorities.
8. Interested applicants in Brasilia
and its environs are advised to call the Embassy or visit the website
to know when the exercise will take place in São Paulo.
9. Please disseminate this information
to all Nigerians you know in Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay, irrespective
of status. This information will also appear on the Embassy’s
website, Consular Section – “Passports”, from Monday,
10th January, 2011 (www.nigerianembassy-brazil.org).
